Arts in Poseidonion Grand Hotel Poseidonion Grand Hotel for over a century now has been a beacon of culture, working each year along with local authorities to promote the island’s cultural identity. Each year such initiatives mature and multiply to succeed is portraying Greece not only as a country of astonishing beauty but also as a fountain of arts and culture. Within this context and through collaborations with galleries, art patrons and artists, Poseidonion Grand Hotel has been the host of numerous exhibitions regardless forms of art, including sculpture, painting, photography, 3D installations even jewellery creation that showcased not only acclaimed artists but also the creativity of the local youth.

Being on that track, Poseidonion embarked upon a promising collaboration with Artion Galleries that boast branches in Athens, Kifisia, Thessaloniki, Geneva, London and New York. This collaboration’s aim is twofold. It seeks to allow art lovers to enjoy pieces of art of impeccable beauty within the luxe premises of Poseidonion Grand Hotel yet create the fertile ground for further actions about to come, turning Spetses island into a hub for art personalities.

The beginning is marked with 20 unique pieces of art by Georgios Stathopoulos, inspired by the island of Spetses, ten of which are on canvas and blend together anthropocentric and land plotting elements of the island while the rest are linear, springing from the sensitivity of human relationships. Coming up, from 13 May until 30 June Poseidonion Grand Hotel will be the host of “Miniature Explorations” by Paschalis Angelidis and “Everyday Activities” by Philippe Simile (3-25 July). On the same time, exhibitions of important Greek and foreign artists, about to be announced.

In the meantime, this beginning is at the same time an open call to both art curators and artists themselves, to enhance those initiatives towards our ultimate vision, the organisation of Spetses Art Forum that could potentially run as a pilot event this Fall. Our ambition is to establish Spetses island as an international art destination.
