It’s time to look back over some special moments of this past season at the Poseidonion Grand Hotel, which marked a decade of hospitality since its total renovation in 2009. A variety of immersive events and exceptional gastronomy experiences were enjoyed by guests, all in tune with the authentic character of Spetses.

The year began with the joyous news that our On The Verandah restaurant had won the highly regarded Greek Cuisine Awards by Athinorama. The Bostani farm-to-table experience also won the Gold in the 2019 Tourism Awards as an innovative culinary project.

From dining to fine drinking, another successful collaboration with Baba Au Rum, listed amongst the World’s 50 Best Bars, took place at our Palms Bar.

Guests were able to learn more about the island’s local produce with the Honey Festival, celebrating the Spetsian beekeeping tradition as well as an expert-led Wine Tour introducing the wines of Greece. Our very own lemon and aloe Vatos liqueur, full off the taste of summer, was a popular addition to the Poseidonion experience.

The popular Tweed Run returned to Spetses for a 6th year, allowing vintage bicycle fans to enjoy a retro weekend of leisurely cycling. The Poseidonion Grand Hotel once again lent its support to the island's spectacular events such as the Classic Spetses Yacht Regatta and the Armata 2019 celebrations. We also had the pleasure to host some very special occasions and to create unforgettable memories for our guests. 

This year we began a fundraising initiative in support of the Global Witness organization and their Defenders campaign, with a 36 page booklet depicting stories of those involved. We also participated in the Coastal Cleanup Campaign in May, which focused on the conservation of our island’s pristine beaches. In addition, this season our guests had to opportunity to enjoy our eco-friendly Tuk Tuk to get around the island as we focus on maintaining its natural charm and authenticity.

All in all, 2019 was another season of making new friends and greeting old ones as we embraced each guest with the warm spirit of hospitality that the Poseidonion symbolizes.
