Once again we are delighted to have a front row seat to witness the Armata Festival of Spetses which this year is taking place from 3 to 11 September. The festival, which commemorates the torching of the Turkish flotilla on September 8, 1822 after the onset of the Greek revolution against the Ottomans, unfolds before our very eyes in the main square.
The whole week is packed with festivities from a traditional shadow puppet show to music concerts and even a gymnastics display. The culmination of the Armata Festival on Saturday is the spectacular reenactment and torching of the turkish vessel in the harbour and a huge firework display. On Sunday the island receives blessings from local church leaders as pretty wreaths are strewn across the straits.
There is still time to make a booking at Poseidonion Grand Hotel so that you can enjoy the festival with us!
